The Sims: Lots
built 155 days ago
Many would have assumed that The Sims could never work on a console, but one look at this version proves them wrong. In fact, with the temptation to fall back on a mountain of confusing mouse-operated icons and online patches removed, this could well be the definitive version. For starters, the graphics now look much better than before, being in full 3-D instead of just isometric 2-D. This not only looks better but ... allows you to zoom in and out on the action and feels a lot less sterile than the original. Things are still as customisable as ever too, especially via the Create-a-Sim option.

Sims can die in several ways. If a Sim reaches the end of the Elder life stage, he or she will die of old age. Sims can ... meet premature ends by various means, such as electrocution, starving, disease, fly swarms, fright, fire, drowning, being struck by lightning, hit by hail or death by satellite. Sims leave behind tombstones or urns, which are typically possessed by their ghosts. As long as the memoriam is left on the lot, ghosts will haunt the household. Ghosts may wake up easily frightened Sims, and may also scare a Sim to death.

House Party ... brings you a certain number of new skins, hairdos and clothes tat can be applied to your Sims. Most of these skins look rather good (without being too weird - that's what fan-sites are for). The designers tended to make Sims seem rather normal. The expansion contains new sets of tiles and wallpapers, which will let you create a theme house. For instance, you can create a Hawaiian, rave or country style home. Apart from the partying objects, you will find a lot of new chairs and tables, musical appliances, lights, etc.

This bundle of mechanical fun allows Sims to attempt to try and change not just the weather, but the current Season! It's a wacky, umbrella spinning, nose making whirly-gig of a thing that can easily backfire on Sims causing some pretty disturbing effects. Hail stones and meteors can rain down on the Lot causing untold damage and heartbreak if things don't go to plan.
