The Software Agents field was a response to a similar stagnation in Artificial Intelligence. AI researchers had a lot of good but imperfect tools that had been developed over the years, but kept trying to solve the really hard general problems. Software Agents grew out of the idea that it was OK if your algorithm wasn't perfect in every condition so long as you cleverly constrained your application domain and designed your user interface to cover for those imperfections. It was a struggle to get acceptance of the idea at first, and in the end a few of the big players in the new domain went and founded their own conference rather than try to fit their own work to the evaluation metrics used for more traditional AI papers. Hopefully it won't take such a dramatic move on the part of AR researchers to breath new life into this field.

For “Art of War - II,” the main event will ... feature a heavyweight showdown — this time between former UFC and IFL star Wes “The Project” Sims and Chris “The Guillotine” Gillen. The Sims vs. Gillen fight will headline a ten-bout card that begins at 7:30 pm. They will be vying for a top ranking in the heavyweight division.

Electronic Arts will unleash their pre-order campaign for the upcoming title, The Simpsons Game. Four of the biggest game retailers (GameStop, Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy) will each have an exclusive, limited edition The Simpsons Game Parody Poster for early customers. Each Poster is representative of an in-game parody featured in the new title. In addition, each retailer will have a specifically created cheat code printed on the back of the game posters to open some of the unlockable content in the game. These are all while supplies last.

Variety has reported that 20th Century Fox has acquired feature rights to The Sims from Electronic Arts, and has set up a project to create a live-action film. Steve Asbell is said to be overseeing the project alongside Rod Humble. Brian Lynch has been named as the script writer.
