The Simpsons Game is, at its core, a 3D action platformer. Controlling one of the four speaking Simpsons family members at any given moment - with at least one other available for on-the-fly switching - you punch, jump, double-jump and special ability your way to success. Success can mean any number of things in the game as each level is an "episode" unto itself. Although most of these episodes see the player following a relatively linear pattern of platforming, puzzle-solving and combat, some manage to mix things up with time constraints, collection objectives and blow-out boss battles (see the downloadable demo for an example of that last one).
