The Ramones formed as a 3-piece in 1974, with Joey on drums and Dee Dee singing and playing bass. This proved difficult for Dee Dee, so Joey took over on vocals and Tommy signed on to play drums.

The Ramones spent a lot of time on the subway because they lived in Queens and all the cool rock clubs were in Manhatten. The Ultimate Dream of every Queens guy was to meet a hot chick in a cool rock club in Manhatten and be able to tell her that he lived in Manhatten. How are you going to pick up a hot chick in a cool rock club in Manhatten when you have to take her home on the stupid 7 Train? Boy, if that don't make you feel like a loser nothing will.

With support of the President, the Ramones began to handily win the gang war. This lead Lizzy Windsor to call on her second cousin Godzilla. Godzila quickly stomped through Forrest Hills killing the patriach of the family Ramone Ramone. Then after a three year diversion in Tokyo, he started to make his way towards Circle Pines. The Ramones sent brothers Gigan Ramone, Chico Ramone, and CJ Ramone to fight Godzilla, but all fell. Finally, Mothra Ramone was called and after a legendary six month battle, a cease fire was called.

Maybe the early Ramones were just too good to be true and no one (in Britain) could believe they really existed! But between 'Rocket To Russia' and the present LP they endured a trough: various so-so producers and a tiresome search for the hit single that would establish them as a mainstream band in the USA.

Next - as though someone had electrified the floor the minute the RAMONES hit the stage, the crowd went bananas. Crowd-surfing, moshing, the pogo - you name it, it was going on out there. And it didn't stop for the entire 70 minutes. At one point a cameraman removed his camera from its safe spot (elevated about three feet above the crowd) and ventured into the audience. It was a wonder he got back alive - but think of the wild footage he came back with.

Ideally what the Ramones want is to create hysteria in their audience. If they have a good audience they want to give more and if it’s bad they play with a vengeance, so either way, they deliver.
