This is the story about a young teenage girl who finds out that her father is a prince, making her a princess. At first, she's shocked and upset. Then she has to put up with princess lessons from her grandmother on her father's side, whom of which, she's not very close with.

When Disney released The Princess Diaries in the summer of 2001, audiences approved and the light comedy about a girl who discovers she's royalty grossed over $100 million at the box office. As one of the studio's highest-grossing live action films of recent years and one not based on a true story, it shouldn't be too surprising that a sequel was greenlighted.

In other words, even young girls who have never heard of George Bernard Shaw already know the outlines of the story being told once again in The Princess Diaries (not that the marketers left anything to chance with their tell-all campaign). And that, of course, is the point.

In the beginning when the princess girl is taking to trash out she hits her neighbors trashcan. You can see an R from the neighbors side view and then they cut to a further shot and the trashcan is turned opposite because the name is on the other side.

There's nothing wrong with dreaming of being a princess. Now let's dream of Hollywood providing more entertaining, challenging films for young girls. This is a G-rated movie, and it could be argued that families need more of those, but the target audience deserves better.
