Oh, and The Powerpuff Girls Movie looks great, too. The animators maintain the show's signature stylized animation and wild color palette while at the same time upping the ante. A particular standout is the girls' self-imposed banishment in outer space; the (mostly) black-and-white sequence is all the more striking due to its sharp contrast to the rest of the film's vivid hues.

[T]hat can be chalked up to the single element that differentiates the heavy-duty action in The Powerpuff Girls from, say, a Pokémon feature: humor. Just like the entertaining television series, the Powerpuff movie has laughs to spare, some aimed at the grade school set and many targeted at their parents.

"Powerpuff Girls" moves fast, and there's a downside to bundling such insane quantities of energy into a movie: Catch it on the wrong day and it could give you the little sister of all headaches. (Limiting your intake of coffee and sugar-coated cereal beforehand isn't a bad idea.) The movie's pace becomes far too frenetic in the last third, leaving less room for the charming, oddball fillips that dot the first hour or so.
