Help students make a chart comparing the sizes and physical features of different types of penguins. Have students make a costume of the biggest penguin or purchase an inflatable one. Set it in a special place for all students to see during this unit.

Tux the Linux Penguin Scratch Off Ticket Just a quickie, Idaho NBC-affiliate KPVI reported that six baby African penguin chicks have hatched at the Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho. The six penguins produced is double the number from last year. The chicks are part of the African Penguin Species Survival program and will be sent to other institutions.
As a species, they learned this because the penguins who paused too soon on their treks had eggs that fell into the sea. Those who walked farther produced another generation, and eventually every penguin was descended from a long line of ancestors who were willing to walk the extra mile.
