The Patriot is an Academy Award nominated 2000 war film directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Mel Gibson. Produced by the Mutual Film Company and Centropolis Entertainment, it was written by Robert Rodat and distributed by Columbia Pictures. The film mainly takes place in South Carolina and depicts the fictional account of a war hero swept into the American Revolutionary War when his family was threatened. The Patriot was nominated for 3 Oscars, Best Sound, Best Cinematography and Best Original Score, winning none.
The Patriot Group is a company of public affairs principals with the finest minds and deepest reservoirs of experience in business, government and politics. It thrives in environments of challenge, crises and high-stakes decision-making. The principals are Denis Calabrese, Kevin Brannon, Ryan Gravatt, Anthony Holm, Jill Warren, and Matt Welch. Marc Levin will serve as general counsel, and Haley Cornyn will serve as executive assistant and operations manager.
Unfortunately, at close to three hours in length, The Patriot has plenty of time to get hokey. The bad guy is drawn as broadly as a Bond villain, and a gaggle of subplots don't add much to the film, just making it unnecessarily longer. The anti-slavery motif is especially hokey and unneeded.
