Even better, Millennium has managed to collaborate with the big boys while not giving away its prized intellectual property. It has partnered while still working toward its ultimate goal of becoming an independent pharmaceutical company (see "Slow Growth"). And it has done this better than perhaps any other biotech company--a feat attributable both to the quality of the company's management team and to the new technologies that guide modern drug development. Millennium was in the right place, with the right people, at the right time.
