Due to its nature, "The Mask" is a very colorful movie and its transfer to DVD is well done. The colors are rich and saturated, without noticeable chroma noise or bleed. The disc contains the 1.85:1 widescreen version of the movie as well as its Pan&Scan counterpart on the flip side of the disc. Even though the Pan&Scan version is pretty nice, cropping the sides of the image only slightly, John R. Leonetti’s spectacular cinematography is so rich and detailed that you would rather take a look at the original widescreen transfer. The movie has an excellent, active 5.1 channel soundtrack that literally pulls you on-stage in the underrated musical numbers, which are some of the film’s highlights. Even in the Dolby Surround version, the sound is full and lively, adding to the movie’s whirlwind feel.

The Mask of Ollock "Robert F. Kauffmann's The Mask of Ollock is a wonderful and distinctive fantasy, uniquely written in the style of the epic poem. The lengthy saga of a world torn in conflict among politicians, wizards, and demonic spirits is recounted in rhythmic verse and powerfully illustrated with stark black-and-white artwork. A superb book for fantasy enthusiasts who tire of the same old prose and long to enjoy a thrilling new experience."

Image:Msktpb.jpg Following the success of the first Mask movie, which led to the release of The Mask: The Animated Series, Dark Horse published this spin-off comic series which followed the continuity of the television cartoon. Like the television show, this title combined elements of both the original adult comics and the Jim Carrey movie. Elements from the film included The Mask as Jim Carrey portrayed him in the film: goofy and heroic with his trademark yellow suit. From the early comics were Walter and a Lt. Kellaway more like his original counterpart than as depicted in film.
