The Mask: Big Head
built 395 days ago
The Bremen Mask is one of three special Happy Masks which allow you to perform a specific task when you press the B Button. Head to the Laundry Pool during the night on Day 1 or Day 2 to find the organ-grinder Guru-Guru. Agree to listen to his music and his story about his mask. Eventually, Guru-Guru will admit to stealing his former boss's mask and give it to you to clear his conscience. As long as you're not in Deku-Scrub form, you'll receive the prize. The Bremen Mask was originally owned by a dog that led circus animals.

The elephant mask, signifying kingship and wealth, was worn by the powerful members of the Kuosi regulatory society, which included members of royalty, wealthy title holders, and ranking warriors of the Bandjoun kingdom of western Cameroon. The bead-embroidered cloth mask consists of long front and back panels, representing the elephant's trunk, and two large circular ears attached to the head. The mask's lavish use of colored beads displayed the wealth of the members of the Kuosi society; and its colors and patterns expressed the society's cosmic and political functions. Black denotes the relationship between the living and the dead. White refers to the ancestors and potent medicines. Red symbolizes life, women, and the institution of kingship.

The city, not knowing of the magical mask, assumes Big Head is still the same killer but has moved his target list to high profile crime lords. Despite Kellaway's good intentions, the mask turns his methods increasingly more violent. Walter, a behemoth sized, mutated mob muscle-man, who never speaks takes a vendetta against Big Head for killing his mob employers. Walter for reasons unclear is attacked in brutal ways by Big Head but never indicates pain and never ultimately dies. He is ... the only one who can injure Big Head to any real degree.

In addition, there is a new interface that is not a mask but has two tubes that fit snugly inside the nostrils. It looks like a large nasal cannula. While a nasal cannula has two smaller tubes that are used to deliver oxygen, the tubes with this interface must be big enough to prevent the pressurized air from escaping. No headgear is necessary-and hence this interface can ... accommodate eyeglasses-as the tubing loops from the nose around the ears. The two tubes join together near the chest and then, as one tube, attach to the CPAP. There is also a strap that goes behind the head to keep the tubing around the ears in place.

Most masks are triangular in shape and are worn over your nose (or the nose and mouth, with a full-face mask for mouth breathers) while the adjustable straps of the headgear hold the mask in place. Straps that are too loose permit air to leak. Straps that are too tight can break the seal and create leaks; any strap pulled too tightly can cause discomfort. Headgear straps must be snug enough for a good fit in all sleeping positions (back, side, and front) but not tight. "Quick-release" clips attach to the straps at the front of the mask or the strap hooks to one part of the mask; both allow for quick, easy removal of the mask. They ... keep the straps in place so you do not have to adjust them each time you use the mask.
