The Hummingbirds
built 260 days ago
Three time Detroit Music Award winners for 2007, The Hummingbirds are certainly creating a buzz of their own. You can expect a twangy mix of memorable melodies and sweet harmonies from this unique "electro-coustic" duo. Talented multi-instrumentalist Stephen Grant Wood adds his telecaster twang into the mix, while songwriter, Rachel Lynn lays down the rock steady rhythm with the acoustic guitar. The vocals are shared between the two performers and the harmonies are outstanding! The Hummingbirds bare a real down home raw country soul.

The Hummingbirds say: "Acoustic/Electric Duo, featuring Detroit Music Award-winner, Stephen Grant Wood, and songwriter Rachel Lynn Hercula. If you're searching for the next Sweethearts of the Rodeo look no further. With Rache's country-blues vocals, and Stephen's Clarence White-influenced twang, they come off like a young Buddy and Julie Miller as well. Their eclectic set list of covers ranges from Tom Waits to Waylon Jennings to british rock to blues, and Irish music. Their original music is a heartfelt style of alternative country rock."

The Hummingbirds absorbed much from other artists as well, performing with Lester Young in the 1940s and sharing Django Reinhardt records with B.B. King in the 1950s. Tucker and the Hummingbirds inspired a number of imitators, such as Jackie Wilson and James Brown, who adapted the shouting style and enthusiastic showmanship of hard gospel to secular themes to help create soul music in the 1960s.

Once young fledgling hummingbirds start fighting with the adults in the aviary you should remove them. Competition, fighting, and territorial disputes can stress the adult birds. Male fledglings can be very aggressive and it seems that their whole purpose in life (so far) is to harass the adults. Removing them ... prevents inbreeding.
