The Republican political party of USAmerica controlled both houses of Congress for the whole decade preceding the Great Depression of the 20th century. They ... held the Presidency during these years. They pushed tariffs to an all time high, often looked the other way as big business commited violations of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act and market competition within the USA waned, and made tax cuts which benefited the wealthy.

The radical left viewed the Great depression as the ensuing end of Capitalism. The belief in the innate instability of free market was in vogue. But free market at time of President Hoover was not exactly free. So, according to scholars if free market is a cause it caused the Great Depression when it was weakest.

The greatest year-on-year change in the past ten years occurred between 1998 and 1999 when global volume increased by 12.1 %. Though the global water market continues to grow at a healthy clip, 2006’s volume increase was expected to be the smallest for the period at 7.1%. That’s a slightly lower growth rate than for 2005 (7.2%) and 2004 (7.5%).The last time global volume increased in double digits was in 2003 when it was up 10.1%.

The IPC was originally founded on May 10, 1937, as the Idaho Fruit & Vegetable Advertising Commission during the latter stages of the Great Depression. One of its greatest achievements -- using advertising on radio and later television -- occurred at a time when this type of marketing was in its infancy, but it would help set the stage for much of the IPC's success in making Idaho Potatoes a household name.
