Although they briefly toured the U.S. earlier this summer as a part of the True Colors Tour, The Gossip will be heading back home for a short string of dates. Right now the band is hard at work on a tour of Europe, and will remain there until mid September finishing up gigs. Panther and The Long Blondes will be playing alongside Beth's bunch once they hit states side.

The Gossip takes a less-is-more approach to rock and roll. This ultra-stripped-down trio makes classic-sounding garage punk with nothing more than one big dirty guitar, rackety drums, and tough bluesy female vocals. The band is originally from Searcy, Arkansas, but it should come as no surprise that they call Olympia, Washington home, because their sound is derived in equal parts from Washington garage bands of the '60s like the The Wailers and The Sonics and from Washington riot grrl acts of the '90s like Bikini Kill and Bratmobile. Add just a touch of Southern voodoo gospel and you've got The Gossip: a lean, mean music machine. Just listen to the swampy guitar and tough unpolished vocals of "On the Prowl," from The Gossip's self-titled debut seven-inch, and you'll feel like you're in a moldering garage, inhaling the sweet smells of mildew, dust, sweat, spilled beer, and cigarette smoke. Be assured: you'll be hearing plenty more of this Gossip.

Just two weeks ago The Gossip tacked on extra tour dates in the U.S. from November 3rd in Seattle to the 20th in Chicago. But things went wrong with their live album, which was scheduled for November got bitten by the delay bug. The group wants their touring and album to coicide with one another, therefore the dates will be rescheduled at a later time.

The gossip daemon is a process with which newly created JChannels, which use gossiping, register. A registration request containing the group name and the channel's address is sent to the gossip daemon periodically. Therefore, the daemon can be queried for all member addresses of a certain group. When a registration for a certain member is not renewed within a certain period of time, it becomes stale and will be removed by gossip. This tries to account for crashed members. When a member leaves the group, it will unregister with the gossip daemon.

Gossip has been selected as a featured artist in MTV's "52/52" campaign in conjunction with the release of "Gossip - Live In Liverpool." "52/52" is a brand new way for the channel to give unprecedented exposure to unsigned artists, indie bands, and established acts on major labels in a completely new and innovative way. MTV handpicks one band/artist per week for the entire year and gives them the equivalent of roughly 11 hours of on-air commercial time per week on the channel. Performances, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage with Gossip will air throughout the group's "52/52" spots.
