The Game: Teams
built 234 days ago
In 2008's The Ultimate Game at The PGA West Stadium Course, 64 two-person teams will compete in a match-play format. The entry fee is $22,500 per player ($45,000 per team) until Nov. 30, $25,000 per player ($50,000 per team) from Dec. 1-31 and $30,000 per player ($60,000 per team) after Dec. 31. Players win their entry fees back if they win only two matches. Players win $25,000 for each additional victory after the first two. The winning team wins $1 million. There will ... be a consolation bracket for teams that lose early, enabling them to win back their entry fees and more.
Ready, Set, Go: the first clue contains a message in Braille The “spirit of the Game” gets evoked a lot when discussing what is and is not permissible, as preventing players from cheating is pretty much impossible. But Game Control makes a point of only allowing good sports to participate (hence the application process), and fealty to the “spirit of the Game” is strong amongst most. And in an event where there is no prize for coming in first place, teams that cheat are, as the old admonishment states, “only cheating themselves.”
When the countdown to a Capture the Flag game reaches zero, both teams are free to begin their offensive, to put into action any plan they wish. An untrained team of random players is easy to spot, because its members will go about securing a win for their team in a totally disorganized fashion. One or more people will usually get themselves a sniper rifle and simply wait for enemy players to appear. Some people will attack the enemy immediately in various ways, but their efforts will be uncoordinated and easily beaten back by the enemy players milling around their base. Players will often change positions at random, sometimes defending their base and flag, sometimes "going offense."

She will report directly to Jason Young.
Super Ad Sat-Sun The 49ers were shut out for the first time this season and have scored a total of three points in two games against the Seahawks this year. Price is Right host and comedian Drew Carey hoisted Seattle's 12th man flag at the start of the game. Carey is a minority investor in the MLS team headed for Seattle.

Kahan and his group are probably the most successful snapshot of the many sponsors behind players in The Ultimate Game at The PGA West Stadium Course. In the unique event, which will be televised over four hours of primetime coverage on GOLF CHANNEL March 10-11, two-person teams play for a $2.4 million total purse -- $1 million to the winning team -- composed wholly of their own $60,000 entry fees (per team). Because many of the players in the event are mini-touring pros who haven't quite gained the exposure -- and income -- synonymous with a PGA TOUR career, they often turn to sponsors to pay their way in.
