Image of the schematic for the 1958 video game Higinbotham designed the game as entertainment for visitors' days at BNL. In the1950s, most of the exhibits were static displays. Higinbotham, who was then head of the Instrumentation Division, said it occurred to him that "it might liven up the place to have a game that people could play, and which would convey the message that our scientific endeavors have relevance for society."

Re-Mission was developed by HopeLab through a collaborative process that included video game developers and animators, cancer experts, cell biologists, psychologists, and young people with cancer themselves. Re-Mission's 20 levels of game-play combine scientific accuracy with an honest depiction of young people's challenges with cancer.
The Linux Game Tome Kolf is a miniature golf game with 2D top-down view. Courses are dynamic, and up to 10 people can play at once in competition. Kolf comes equipped with a variety of playgrounds and tutorial courses.
"Most people don't realize there's music throughout game shows because there's so much content," Phillips said. you're supposed to feel it. It's all about complementing and playing into the emotion that's evoked throughout the show."
