Leading up to the unveiling of Patrick’s identity, The Click Five ran a contest on their website giving fans the opportunity to try and guess the band’s new frontman. The winner, Kayla Atteniese, was chosen from a pool of tens of thousands of entries, and awarded a trip for two to appear in the band’s music video.

The Click Five know the trick to making pleasurable pop music: Sound as if you invented the genre, even when you know you didnt. This debut is so confident and sleek, its slightly inhumana band this young (its members are all 23 or younger, and they wear matching suits) could allow themselves a bit more roughness around the edges. But then, theres plenty of time for the Click Five to frizz out, and for now they surf the decades with ease, from 60s Tiger Beat bubblegum to crisply orchestrated 80s New Wave. Their chief concerns are the timeless vagaries of teen romance, and their buttercream vocal harmonies, particularly on Just the Girl (written by Fountains of Waynes Adam Schlesinger), are so convincing that even old-timers over the age of 25 should have no trouble turning back the clock.
