The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a great season last year going 11-6. The Bucs rely on their shutdown defense to win ballgames. Their banner year came in 2002 when they won 15 games. Unfortunately, they followed up that great year with two disappointing seasons. The Buccaneers are hoping 2006 will break that trend.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released veteran defensive ends Kevin Carter and Greg Spires on Wednesday.Carter had 73 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and fumble recovery in his first season with the Buccaneers. He has played in every game during his 13-year NFL career with Tampa Bay, Miami, Tennessee and St. Louis.
The St. Petersburg Times reports free agent DE Kevin Carter (Buccaneers) is expected to sign a new contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team released Carter Wednesday, Feb. 27, to avoid paying him a $2 million roster bonus.
