The Alchemist: Music Guide
built 239 days ago
Recorded 100% pro-tools and digital free at Stockholm’s UpandRunning studios with Producer Tom Hakava and using only vintage amplification, “The Alchemist” showcases a group of musicians at ease with their playing and songwriting. Addictive melodies flow simultaneously with catchy, heavy riffs, while maintaining a relaxed and laid back feel throughout. Among its many highlights, the album features the standout songs “Walk Between the Lines” and “Hey Doctor” as well as the record’s plat du jour, the 3-part progressive rock odyssey of the title track “The Alchemist”. The album’s eye-catching cover art can be viewed at this location.

Going under the moniker of the Alchemist, Dustin Morris started experimenting with ambient noises and samples at the end of 1997. Combining additional elements of techno and drum'n'bass, the Vancouver native spent the next two years spinning and making mix tapes that were locally distributed. By 2000, the digital magazine DMR hooked the Alchemist up with a contribution for their two-CD compilation Interstellar Harmony, Vol. 2. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
