What sets this Thai restaurant apart is its stylish interior crafted by co-owner Todd Sirimongkolvit, an architecture student at UC Berkeley. The wall between the restaurant and the building next door has been opened up with floor-to-ceiling glass bricks, and the large expanses have been broken up with yellow columns. The concrete-topped bar is backed with a midnight-blue wall; the same color is picked up on the glass shades of arched chrome wall sconces on the opposite wall. White tablecloths covered with white paper, bistro-style chairs, a dark wood floor and huge flower arrangements at the door complete the modern look.

To sort Thai words with punctuation marks, the marks must be given lower precedence than ordinary letters. Without punctuation marks concern, the basic algorithm divides Thai letters into two classes of precedence. The first priority letters are the consonants and vowels. The second are the tonal marks, Mai Tai Khoo, and Thantakhat. With punctuation marks, there must be more than two.

Founded by Ben and Sommay Kitchpanich, Thai Kitchen was opened as the first Thai restaurant of Anchorage in 1986. It was located behind a small grocery store known as Express Market on Tudor Road. Currently, the restaurant is expanded while the market has been moved to a new location.
