The two sides exchanged views on the matters related to the joint promotion of the Beijing Olympic Games during the third symposium on Sino-US relations. The symposium was launched by former US President George Herbert Walker Bush with an aim to increase mutual understanding and promote bilateral relations between the two countries. As the independents' market share has increased, however, the number of operators has steadily decreased for the past 20 years. The number of businesses in oil and gas fell to 6,982 in 2006 from 17,575 in 1986, according to Texas Railroad Commission records.

    (Texas) - The Public Utility Commission of Texas has authorized a 12 percent discount on summer utility bills for low-income residential electricity customers. The discount will lower the customers' electricity bills by about $25 to $30. The discount begins in July and extends through October. Customers will be automatically enrolled in the program through a matching system using data provided by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Earlier this year, the Texas Legislature approved $30 million in low-income discounts for summer 2007. Eligible customers must be below the federal poverty level guidelines or receive other benefits from Texas HHSC.
