Temple Mount: Centuries
built 615 days ago
The Temple Mount platform, built to support the Temple and its courts, has been preserved down through the centuries. While this has limited the area for the search for the original site, it is impossiĀble to resolve the matter due to the lack of complete access to the site. Nevertheless, based on many evidences that can be discerned without archaeological investigation, three major theories of location have been advanced.

stepstemplemount070830-0100 There has been much debate over the exact location of the temple on the Temple Mount for centuries. More recently, many experts including archaeologiests have speculated that the Islamic sites were NOT built over the Temple but instead occupied areas adjacent to the Islarmic sites. The discovery of the remains of an outerwall so close to the Islamic site suggests the possibility that the site does indeed sit atop the remains ot the Second Temple. If this is true then that fact raises more problems in regards to the building of a 3rd Temple.

Protests commonly occur whenever archaeologists conduct projects on or near the Mount. Aside from visual observation of surface features, most other archaeological knowledge of the site comes from the 19th century survey carried out by Charles Wilson and Charles Warren.
