William Press, Telemundo's vice president of operations, oversees seven departments, including engineering and technical production, for the company's three networks. He says the goal of Telemundo is to reach the broadest audience possible with a blend of programming that includes talk, courts, music, sports, and news. Sports coverage is especially fast-paced, with production qualities that would be envied by any network.
In another first, Telemundo will offer full-length episodes of telenovelas such as "Pasion de Gavilanes" and "Decisiones." Select video clips from its popular morning talk show, "Cada Dia" and telenovelas "Marina" and "Dame Chocolate" will ... be available to viewers. In addition, bilingual cable network mun2 will offer full episodes of "The Chicas Project" as well as select clips of all network shows including "Vivo," "One Nation Under Hip-Hop," and "The mun2 Shift."

Telemundo is ... the only Spanish-language network currently producing telenovelas in the US[2]. Many programs air with closed captions in both Spanish and English. The network reaches 93 percent of U.S. Hispanic households in 142 markets via over-the-air, cable and satellite TV[3]. The New American In a strategic approach to reach U.S. Hispanics, Telemundo and mun2 will embark in a first-ever media driven campaign to implement a multi-platform initiative through broadcast, cable and the Internet. Through its cable network, mun2, "Vote 4 UR Future" will focus on motivating and mobilizing young Latinos in the U.S., who constitute the fastest-growing segment within the Nation's Hispanic community.

Telemundo's reach is behind that of leading Hispanic broadcaster Univision Communications Inc., which is based in Los Angeles. But Univision has been responding to the competitive threat from Telemundo and other rivals with plans to start a second Spanish-language network, Telefutura, next year.

NBC’s acquisition last April of Telemundo, a major Spanish-language TV network, has created a tremendous problem and opportunity for AFTRA and other labor unions. The purchase of Telemundo for $2.7 Billion gives NBC 13 additional stations including WSNS TV44 in Chicago. NBC ... owns WMAQ TV5 in Chicago and stations in 13 other cities.
