Tekken is a series of fighting games developed and produced by Namco. Originally an arcade game, it has been ported to the PlayStation and the PlayStation 2 consoles with a version for the PlayStation 3 in the works.

Tekken 2 is available for PlayStation 3 users to download onto the PSP[1] However, multiplayer options have been removed. Also, as of system upgrade 1.70, Tekken 2 can now ... be downloaded onto and played on the PlayStation 3. [2]

Sony and Bandai Namco have teamed up to bring smoke-filled Japanese game centers Tekken 6. Hitting later this year, it will be the first arcade game to use the PS3's cell technology. Previously, the company used PlayStation 2 tech to develop arcade versions of its games, but has actually sold this tech to other companies. Bandai Namco hasn't yet decided what it will do with its PS3 arcade technology. Probably make a buncha Tekken games, that's what.

If there was only one game for the PlayStation you should own, that would be Tekken 2. Namco simply made the best fighting video game ever, and it will be some time before it encounters any serious threat. Virtua Fighter 3 which has been announced on the Sega Saturn for late 1997 will, of course, be the most serious competitor, but until then, Tekken 2 is definitively your best choice on the PlayStation.
