Tekken: Games
built 218 days ago
Tekken was the first game in the Tekken series and has been a three-dimensional fighting game from the start. Strategies for fighting are largely two-dimensional, but include the third attribute of side-stepping. This can be used to evade attacks, as well as modifying the character's attack to become different. In some cases, attacks can hit characters who have sidestepped.

Tekken 2 is the second installment in the popular Tekken fighting game series. It was first released in arcades in 1995, and later released for the PlayStation in 1996. It was again released in 2005 as part of the arcade history mode of Tekken 5 for the PlayStation 2, and later in 2007 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable via the PlayStation Network.

Tekken 5's visuals are simply incredible. It's hard to look at a PS2 game these days without rolling your eyes. You can try to roll your eyes at this game, but first you'll have to put them back in their sockets. The sun bouncing off buildings; the damage endured by the environments; the floating of feathers that seem to appear out of nowhere. It's like watching a beautiful anime movie come to life. The characters are more detailed than Tekken Tag and Tekken 4, but the backgrounds – that's what you and your friends will be talking about.

The Tekken tournament continues in this downloadable version of the arcade game. Dark Resurrection features over 30 characters, including Dragonuv and Lili, the two new characters that were added for the Dark Resurrection arcade update. Also making the trip over from the arcade are new stages, themselves based off the original Tekken 5 stages, but with climate and time effects as well as new background objects, totalling 19 stages. The PS3 version features full 1080p visuals and the playable debut of boss character Jinpachi. The various modes found in the arcade game, including arcade battle, ghost battle and gallery have been included and updated for the PS3 version.

Ever since Namco introduced the first beat-'em-up-style mini-game, no Tekken game has been released without one. Tekken 5's mini-game, titled Devil Within, is the best yet. It's played from a third-person perspective (with 3D levels, mostly corridors). Jin Kazama is the star, and once his meter is full he can be transformed into the devil, increasing his strength and agility for a limited time.

It seems hard to believe, but the Tekken series has been around for about a decade now. In that period, Tekken became one of the premier 3D fighting games in arcades, but its real fame was found at home. The PlayStation, and later the PlayStation 2, has been the Tekken series' stomping grounds for the past 10 years, and traditionally, the home versions have managed to outperform their impressive arcade counterparts. That grand tradition holds true in Tekken 5, which offers additional modes not found in the arcade original, but even more importantly, it offers fantastic 3D fighting and stunning visuals.
