Ted Demme: Yo! Mtv Raps
built 639 days ago
Demme, who was 38 at the time of his death, was the nephew of Silence of the Lambs and Philadelphia director Jonathan Demme. The younger Demme got his start as a producer on Yo! MTV Raps and as a director of music videos such as Bruce Springsteen’s Streets of Philadelphia. He directed many feature films, his debut being Who’s the Man? with Ed Lover and Dr. Dre. Other film credits include Beautiful Girls, The Ref, Life and most recently Blow, starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in the real-life cocaine saga.

Der Neffe von Jonathan Demme begann seine Laufbahn als Produktionsassistent beim Musiksender MTV. Ab 1988 führte er Regie bei Yo! MTV Raps. In seiner kurzen Schaffenszeit arbeitete Demme häufig mit Denis Leary zusammen. Sein bekanntester Film war 2001 Blow mit Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz und Franka Potente.
Demme's career began at MTV. After starting out as a production assistant, he eventually created Yo! MTV Raps and somehow got it on the air back when the channel's programming lineup was whiter than Ben Affleck's capped teeth. Music videos (like Bruce Springsteen's "Streets of Philadelphia," which Demme co-directed with his famous uncle, Jonathan) and episodic television gigs (including Homicide: Life on the Street and Robert Altman's short-lived TV series Gun) followed, as well as the feature film Who's the Man? starring Yo! MTV Raps hosts Dr. Dre (no, the other one) and Ed Lover.
