The TD Canada Trust announced that its location at the corner of Dundas and Brock streets is scheduled to permanently close its doors April 23, 2008, to prepare for the official April 28 opening of the company's new branch. Construction has already begun on the new branch at the Dundas Street-Springbank Avenue intersection, a location that formerly accommodated a used car dealership and a restaurant. TD Canada Trust intended to formally notify its current 400 Dundas St. customers of the impending closure and relocation of the branch this week. At 510 square metres, the new branch building is more than one-third larger than the previous 325-square-metre location. With the larger area, the new location will have 12 offices for its bank staff instead of the current seven. The new location will ... feature more teller wickets than the current branch.
With the merger of Toronto Dominion and Canada Trust banks, the financial community had to contend with a new player, TD Canada Trust, positioned as the largest financial services institution in Canada with 1,426 branches operated nationwide. In this colossal undertaking, Shikatani Lacroix was called in to develop the new exterior identity and signage program. The sheer volume of signs and magnitude of the project made it the largest re-signing exercise of its kind ever realized in Canada.

SPLIT IT TD Canada Trust really designed a compelling marketing approach to drive account acquisition and usage among Facebook users without being too heavy-handed. Other banks should take notice of this creative marketing to Facebook’s core Generation Y demographic to promote other banking products (e.g. mobile banking) that are relevant to this segment. Recent studies by Javelin and Celent, among others, clearly point to Generation Y consumers taking the lead in mobile banking adoption, particularly those solutions with an SMS/text messaging component.
