The first International Conference of Veterans and Victims of War was held in Tbilisi in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. This conference was organized conjointly by the Georgia Alliance of Invalids and Veterans of War called Demetre Tavdadebuli and Father Philip G. Salois, M.S., President and Founder of the National Conference of Viet Nam Veteran Ministers of Massachusetts. There were 142 conference participants registered.

The Conference will look at understanding what has emerged out of the discipline of EE since Tbilisi and the role of EE within ESD. Specifically the Conference will seek to define how EE can support ESD and establish linkages. The Conference will ... help set the roadmap for progress through the DESD. The conference will have Plenary Sessions, Thematic Workshops, Poster Sessions, Side Events, and an Exhibition to address the wide range of thematic issues.
