Garbin split a pair of sets with Spaniard Nuria Llagostera Vives here on Tuesday before rain halted play for the day. The Italian ultimately prevailed here on Wednesday, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, but then announced her exit due to a strained left hamstring. Garbin's decision to pull out left Ukrainian lucky- loser Olga Savchuk with a walkover into Friday's quarterfinals on the red clay at Romai Tennis Academy.

August 14, 2006 - Nineteen-year-old Dubois, 153rd in the world, won the first set over Italy’s Tathiana Garbin, 57th on the WTA Tour rankings. The Laval native led 5-1 in the opening set before allowing the Italian to come back to 5-4.

Garbin, the No.1 seed at the Tier III event and a veteran Tour player who has had her best career results over the last 12 months, reached the final of the tournament in Bogota, Colombia. Without loosing a set the 29 year old Italian reached the semifinals where she came over Spain Dominguez with an impressive 6:3, 6:1 win.

Garbin started to serve, Justine immediately had two breaking opportunities. She committed some faults with her forehand side and gave the first game away to the Italian. In the second game, Justine was able to even the score thanks to a winning serve. After that, Justine played very well at the beginning of the third game, she played offensive and hit a nice passing shot, the public was charmed and she received three new breaking opportunities again. She made no use of them…2-1 for Garbin.

The final was a pure Italian set up with Garbin facing Roberta Vinci. After winning the first set 7:6 Garbin lost the second one 6:4 to Vinci. In the decisive third set Garbin had to give up with a 3:0 lead due to stomach problems.
