Tanga has a natural harbour and the town here is a major feature of the North East corner of Tanzania. Heavily influenced by its past Germanic history, the town layout is neat and ordered and is the focus of trade in this region. More especially the town serves as an access point to the Umba River Game Reserve to its North, the Usumbaras to the West and the unspolit beaches of Pangani to the south.
