Tahoe is a research-oriented, open source platform for the development of numerical methods and material models. The goal of the work surrounding Tahoe is the simulation of stresses and deformations for situations that cannot be treated by standard continuum simulation techniques. These situations include material fracture or failure, interfacial adhesion and debonding, shear banding, length-scale dependent elasticity and plasticity, and deformation in small-scale structures. Aside from a collection of standard finite elements, Tahoe includes meshfree simulation capability and particle methods. Tahoe includes a number of "cohesive" approaches for modeling fracture. These include both surface and bulk constitutive models that incorporate cohesive behavior.

The 2007 Tahoe was featured on, and promoted through Donald Trump's The Apprentice, where the two teams put together a show for the top General Motors employees to learn about the new Tahoe. Also, The Apprentice sponsored an online contest where you can create your own commercial for the new Tahoe, and the winner's ad would air on national television. The vehicle will still continue to have a maximum capacity of 9 passengers.

Tahoe City offers visitors a host of playfun, as well. Serve up your summer with a host of outdoor concerts and movies, feed the lunker trout from Fanny Bridge, and jog/walk/bike/skate the paved path meandering along the Truckee River. Winter activity revolves around snow and everything one can do in, on or around it. Because the town's more than a century old, there is much, much history to delve into as well.

Short wheelbase and police Tahoe production began at Arlington Assembly on December 1, 2005. SWB Yukon production began in early 2006, with Janesville Assembly coming on line as well. Long wheelbase versions began at Janesville and Silao Assembly in March.

The new Tahoe is an excellent prouduct, but this is the vehicle that should have been in the market 5 years ago. Whats up with the 4 speed auto? With only 340 lb ft of tq, the gearing advantage from a 6 speed auto would do wonders moving that weight around.

The Tahoe/Yukon were shorter than the Suburban on which they were based, but shared that vehicle's GMT400 platform. This was a true truck chassis, and was based on that used in the Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup truck. Both two-door and four-door models were produced, as well as rear- and four-wheel drive. The two door weighs roughly 4500 pounds while the four door weighs approximately 5500 ponds. "AutoTrac" full-time all-wheel drive and OnStar were added for 1998. The upscale Denali trim line to the Yukon appeared around this time as the vehicles became popular with wealthy families.
