T1 Internet
built 114 days ago
Reliable and fast, the T1 Internet service is providing large businesses with options and features that meet their complex and high level demands. Utilized by businesses that have substantial and demanding connection requirements, this connection source was originally designed and introduced to the telephone technology in the 1960's. It was created for digital voice data transmission initially, but is now used as a high speed, fast internet service. The lines connecting this digital voice data were originally copper and now the lines that are used are both optical and wireless media for connections. This technology is now proving to be a very cost effective avenue for both voice and data, transporting data at lightening break speeds. Those looking for connection services that specialize in high traffic and multi-users will want to investigate companies that offer this type of utility connection.

T1 Internet services come in many different packages. The costs may vary depending on the packages and offers that is provided by the ISP. There are two standard packages available to the consumer by most ISPs. They are “burstable” T1 lines and “dedicated” T1 lines. Burstable T1 lines do not give you the full amount of bandwidth, because either it is capped and shared with other consumers, or the facilities are not capable of guarantying the speed of transfer due to poor peering or poor bandwidth qualities. Dedicated T1 lines usually give you a 1:1 ratio of bandwidth meaning it is not shared with other consumers.
T1 Internet service is delivered over a special leased line from the phone company. Most of the path will be fiber optic links. The last few miles to your location will typically use copper lines with repeaters so that the full guaranteed speed of 1.544 Mbps in each direction can be delivered independent of distance. T1 leased lines are a relatively expensive tariffed service, but they are extremely reliable, and any outages can typically be repaired within hours even at night and on weekends. T1 is typically available at any commercially-zoned location.

A Fractional T1 line typically describes an Internet circuit that uses a "piece" or a "fraction" of a Full T1. Fractional T1s have become less cost effective. This doesn't make much sense in applications where only 1 or 2 T1 lines are needed, unless the budget is extremely tight. However, this can add up to significant savings when using hundreds of T1's across a large company's multi-location VPN or frame relay network.
