A T1 connection is a VERY FAST connection to the Internet. A T1 line is dedicated, meaning that it is always on and there are no per minute charges. You do not need to dial in. The connection is always active. With a T1 line, you can provide dozens of computers with Internet access without modems, telephone lines, and dialup accounts for each one. A T1 provides approximately 1500k of bandwidth as compared to a 28.8k modem. What this means is that 10 computers can simultaneously access the Internet and each have 150k of bandwidth (5 times what they'd have with 28.8 modems).

But in North America it is provided into channelized format alone. Each T1 line consists of 24 56/64 kbps channels. Both voice and data can be transmitted through these channels. A T3 is used to transmit digital signals at 44.736 megabits per second and has enough bandwidth to transmit full-motion real-time video and very large databases over a busy network.
