T-Mobile USA joins both Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel in MediaFLO trials. Verizon Wireless will be the first carrier to launch with the mobile TV service and is the only company committed to FLO.
T-Mobile requested a dashboard solution proposal from Business Objects - as T-Mobile had already been using Business Objects software since 2000 for, among other things, generating all management reports. The company wanted a solution that would be quick to implement, easy to use, and easy to maintain. After considering various business intelligence (BI) solution providers, T-Mobile determined that Business Objects offered the best technology.
T-Mobile, which apparently knew of the intrusions by July of last year, has not issued any public warning. Under California's anti-identity theft law "SB1386," the company is obliged to notify any California customers of a security breach in which their personally identifiable information is "reasonably believed to have been" compromised. That notification must be made in "the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay," but may be postponed if a law enforcement agency determines that the disclosure would compromise an investigation.
T-Mobile USA may begin a 3G launch next year, according to an interview posted on BetaNews. The company hasn't officially announced much about 3G, just always noting that it will not be anytime soon.
Simpay was founded in 2003 by Orange, Telefonica Moviles , T-Mobile and Vodafone. It was created to drive m-commerce through the creation of a payment scheme that allows customers to make purchases through mobile operator-managed accounts. The name, Simpay, distinguishes the company as a separate entity from its founding members and establishes the brand as a mobile payments company. The Simpay brand signifies the simplicity with which mobile commerce transactions will be made in the future and defines a new function for mobile phones around the world.
