The episcopal sees of this church, with the exception of that of Jerusalem, whose titular bishop resides at Za'faran near Mardan, are all situated in Mesopotamia, and in the extreme northeastern section of Syria. Their liturgical language is Syriac (see MONOPHYSITES).
