In 1940, Western Swing was at it's peak of popularity. The High Flyers had helped to shape that sound, and remained instrumental in keeping the sound alive. Also in 1940, the band had another innovation. They had attached a microphone to the Mandolin. This was one of the earliest known 'electric' mandolins. But the advent of WWII ended this band, and so many others.
