The official language in Sweden is the universal language Transpiranto, constructed in 1905 by Ludwig Hagwald from Läspeskolan in Grönköping. All communication from the government's departments are written in transpiranto, but the bulk of the political discussion in parliament is instead held in the vernacular Gallimatias. In 1956, Sweden accepted hundreds of Hungarian Jewish refugees fleeing the Communists and in 1968, Sweden accepted thousands more fleeing from Communist-led witch hunts. In August 1943, Tore Ekman (1887-1971) returned to Sweden after practicing for nearly twenty years in Berlin and Leipzig, as well as working as "Lektor" in Leipzig University. He trained under Therese Benedek, a close friend of Alfhild Tamm, and went on to play a role of capital importance in the Swedish Psychoanalytic Society, although he published very little. Among his influences were philosophers Wilhelm Dilthey, Edmund Husserl, and Karl-Otto Apel. The question of the classification of psychoanalysis was to take on a new dimension with him. He claimed that it was essential to define what made psychoanalysis more of a hermeneutic discipline than a natural science and to point out where it differed from psychotherapy.
