There's a shortage of good compact wagons on the American and Canadian markets, so the Suzuki Forenza is a welcome addition. The Forenza wagon offers lots of space and equipment for a low price: $14,500 for starters, going up to $18,000 for all the bells and whistles. The whole shootin' match is covered by a 3 yr/36,000 mi warranty with 7 yr/100,000 mi powertrain coverage. It's a bit dull to drive, but that's forgivable. The Forenza isn't a runner, it's a hauler -- and a darn good one at that.

The 2008 Suzuki Forenza Wagon is a 4-door, 5-passenger wagon, available in 3 trims, ranging from the Base to the Popular. Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 2.0-liter, I4, 127-horsepower engine that achieves 19-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 2008 Forenza Wagon is a carryover from 2007.

The Suzuki Forenza (Auto) last had a manufacturer update on 01/01/2008. The Suzuki Forenza enters 2008 available in either sedan or wagon bodystyle and in both automatic and manual transmissions. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 143 horsepower, powers all models. Standard equipment includes air conditioning with a micron air-filtration system, power conveniences features, heated exterior mirrors, and an AM/FM stereo with a CD player and MP3 capability. Additionally, the wagons come with silver painted roof rails. Safety features on all models include tire pressure monitor, and dual front and side impact airbags.

The 2007 Suzuki Forenza is available as a wagon or a four-door sedan. Most reviews say the Forenza is an average performer overall, but it fails to outclass the Honda Civic (*est. $14,810 to $21,290), which is the frontrunner among small cars. However, the Forenza is less expensive than the Civic, and its standard features include power windows and doors, heated mirrors and air conditioning. Front and side airbags are standard, though side curtain airbags aren't even available as an option. Although historical resale value is low, the long 7-year/100,000 powertrain warranty is a plus.

The Suzuki Forenza is actually built by the Korean automaker Daewoo and rebadged as the Forenza for the American market. It's offered as a four-door sedan or wagon in a single trim level with various available packages. Standard on all are four-wheel disc brakes, air-conditioning, front seat side airbags, full power accessories and a CD/MP3 stereo with steering-wheel controls. A Convenience Package adds cruise control and remote keyless entry, while the Popular Package adds those items plus a sunroof. Antilock brakes are optional.
