When Suzanne Somers starred from 1977 to 1981 as the ditzy, yet very lovable Chrissy Snow on "Three's Company," her TV show helped her leap to nationwide fame. Somers' popularity on the highly rated-sitcom was due to the fact that Chrissy wasn't an airhead; she just had a different route to logic. Suzanne Marie Somers, born in 1946, is an American actress. During the 1960's Somers began her acting career with small roles in movies and television. In 1977 Somers landed the role of Chrissy Snow on the hit sitcom Three's Company. This was Somers' greatest career success and may be what she is best known for. She left the cast of Three's Company on bad terms after a contract dispute. She later promoted the Thigh Master on telvision.

In 1968, Suzanne won a job as a prize model on the short-lived game show, The Anniversary Game hosted by her future husband, Alan Hamel, who was married at the time. The two began dating, and Suzanne became pregnant while Hamel was still married. They decided that Suzanne should have an abortion, which she did, suffering severe bleeding for several days. She has been married to Hamel since 1977. Hamel was her business manager during the failed negotiations which led to her leaving Three's Company.

Though best known for portraying rather ditzy blondes in television series such as Three's Company and Step by Step, there is much more to Suzanne Somers than meets the eye. In addition to acting, Somers has found success as an author, poet, entrepreneur, spokeswoman, nightclub performer and talkshow hostess. The daughter of a secretary and high school athletic coach, Somers briefly attended a private Catholic School until she was expelled for passing notes to her friends. Following graduation from public school, Somers attended Lone Mountain College in San Francisco. Marrying and divorcing early, Somers had a child to support, so she sought out modelling and acting work, with a few stints as a cocktail waitress. TV bit roles and fleeting appearances in such San Francisco-based films as Bullitt (1968) led to a decorative girl-friday job on a TV game show hosted by Alan Hamel, whom she eventually married.
