Suzanne Somers: Books
built 203 days ago
In this guide to life after 50, popular health and fitness expert Suzanne Somers addresses issues of aging in men and women. Much of the book addresses her own experiences of menopause, and the issue of hormone therapy. Like many women, she was troubled by what she had heard about hormone replacement therapy (HRT) which uses synthetic hormones.

In her latest book, Ageless, Suzanne Somers details the theory that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can reverse the aging process. Menopause, she says, can become enjoyable once the body is in perfect hormonal sync.

Suzanne is the author of 13 books, including six New York Times bestsellers. The star of the former hit television programs Three’s Company and Step By Step, Suzanne has created one of the most respected and trusted brand names in the world, representing cosmetics and skin care products, apparel, jewelry, a computerized facial fitness system, fitness products and an extensive food line. She received an honorary doctorate of human letters from National University and is a highly sought after commencement speaker. Suzanne is scheduled to speak before Congress this year to champion a study on bioidentical hormone replacement.

Through her publisher, Somers, who just turned 60, defends the book: "For the past decade, Suzanne Somers has been immersed in researching anti-aging medicine. She has embraced this medicine because she has seen the results in her own body and well-being, but knows there continues to be an ongoing dialogue in the medical community on how to best utilize this new information in concert with more conventional forms of health care."

Suzanne makes clear in this fascinating new book that if your hormones are out of balance, you will not be able to lose weight. Weight loss must be approached with a twofold strategy as you get older: balance your hormones the bioidentical way and eat correctly. One doesn’t work without the other.

Women to Women reported today that since the release of Suzanne Somers' new book, "The Sexy Years -- Discover the Hormone Connection", it has been deluged by callers asking about bioidentical hormones to relieve their symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. "We haven't seen anything like this since the WHI study on HRT was stopped almost two years ago," said Dixie Mills, MD, a practitioner at Women to Women and a nationally known specialist in breast health.
