Superman, as a young pup. Within Metropolis, the effect of the Superman's actions against the criminal element has caused a major down turn in crime. Threatened by the Superman, the Metropolis crime syndicates have formed a single cartel named Intergang. The Metropolis Police Department has responded to this by forming the Special Crimes Unit.
In March 1942, Superman exhibits the ability to mimic voices when he expertly disguises his voice so that it sounds exactly like a gang-leader's. In September of the same year, in order to warn the people of Metropolis of a Nazi invasion, Superman shouts a warning in such dynamic tones his voice carries for miles.
SUPERMAN Hooded Sweatshirt This Superman hooded sweatshirt features the classic red and gold "S" logo over a royal blue background. Made of 50% cotton, 50% polyester, this sweatshirt with a hood and front pocket is guaranteed to keep you warm on chilly Metropolis days and nights.
By 1950, Superman's super-hearing enables him to hear the low humming sound of a machine 1,500 miles away. In 1953, he exhibits the ability to focus his super-hearing so precisely that, while flying high over Metropolis, he can eavesdrop on a conversation taking place in one specific apartment.
At least a couple of scenes suggest past media interpretations of the Superman character. In one scene in downtown Metropolis, Superman holds a car over his head with the hood pointed downward at about 45 degrees, similar to the cover of the first Action Comics issue in 1938. The scene where Superman saves an out-of-control airplane and gently sets it down in a setting impossible to fly out of (a baseball stadium) echoes a scene from one of the Fleischer Superman cartoons, in which Superman sets a large, 8-engine airplane down in the middle of a city street, with the wings extending down side streets.
