Superman's first appearance was in Action Comics #1, in 1938. In 1939, a self-titled series was launched. The first issue mainly reprinted adventures published in Action Comics, but despite this the book achieved greater sales.[18] 1939 ... saw the publication of New York World's Fair Comics, which by summer of 1942 became World's Finest Comics. With issue #7 of All Star Comics, Superman made the first of a number of infrequent appearances, on this occasion appearing in cameo to establish his honorary membership of the Justice Society of America.[19]

In May 1956, Superman is described as being able to recall every action of his life with his "super-human memory." Subsequent texts refer to Superman's "power of total memory" or "total-recall memory," noting that it enables the Man of Steel to remember everything he ever said or did.

The concept behind the film, no doubt, was to make the Superman legend a little more palatable to the Indian film going public. They do this by adding elements familiar to the fans of Bollywood films. Bollywood films are pretty surreal all by themselves, so an attempted rip-off of a movie based on a 60-year-old American comic book is going to be odd duck indeed. As per the rules of Bollywood cinema, there are dancing girls every 15 minutes, almost like clockwork. And the almost insufferable altruism of the American Big S has been all but removed completely.

UPDATE: An agreement has been reached for record's the first run that allows Superman to stay on the cover. Any and all future runs will be without Superman. No legal action was ever taken or threatened by DC Comics. The label in question, Asthmatic Kitty, delayed the release strictly on the advice of their own lawyers (and made some good publicity press in the meantime).
