Originally announced for GameCube before shifting quietly onto Wii, Super Paper Mario is the latest title to feature the eponymous incarnation of Nintendo's mascot. The third Paper Mario title following the 2004 original and the 2005 sequel, Super Paper Mario sees the pint-sized hero try to save the entire universe from a monocle-wearing megalomaniac called Count Bleck. Having kidnapped Princess Peach (who surely must be hands down a prime candidate for developing Stockholm Syndrome), Bowser, and Luigi, kick-starting an age-old prophecy foretold in a book called the Dark Prognosticus that culminates with the destruction of the universe. Obviously, this isn't going to be allowed to happen without a fight but thankfully, Mario is on hand to do his duty for all Man - and Mushroom - kind.

Super Paper Mario is the third game in the Paper Mario series. Though the last two games were mainly an RPG game, Super Paper Mario will be centered around Platforming, and will have RPG elements. In this game, you'll be able to take control of Mario, Peach, and even Bowser. It was originally supposed to be launched on the GameCube, then it was later merged over to the Wii in September of 2006. While the game was thought to be a standard 2-D game, it was soon revealed that 3-D elements will ... be combined with the 2-D elements to make a brand new type of game.

In Super Paper Mario, the travels of Paper Mario have taken a new turn — one that leads him right out of this dimension. An extended part of the Mario RPG series, which began on the SNES in 1996, Super Paper Mario is much more of a typical Mario adventure with RPG-lite elements than a true Role-Playing Game. Likely a bid to increase the accessibility of the series game (something of a trademark for Nintendo's Wii titles) Intelligent Systems has dropped the turn-based combat of past instalments. Instead, Super Paper Mario plays out much more like the classic 2D adventures of the plumber, with 'real-time' bottom bouncing aplenty. The key feature this time around is the ability to switch the action from 2D to 3D space, opening up the possibilities for the team at Intelligent Systems to be doubly creative this time around.

In 'Super Paper Mario', the adventure begins when the mysterious Count Bleck, a mad genius who is determined to fulfil an ancient prophecy, kidnaps Princess Peach, Bowser and Luigi. Bleck forces Peach to marry Bowser so that he can unite good and evil and create a Chaos Heart that will destroy the universe. Only Mario escapes his clutches and now it is up to him to rescue his friends from the evil Count and save the world!
