Super Mario Land: Princess Peach
built 170 days ago
Unlike all previous "Mario" games, Super Mario Land was not created by Shigeru Miyamoto . As a result, almost all of the characters, settings, and items introduced in this game have not reappeared in any subsequent games. Though a popular seller, the game is now generally regarded by many as being inferior to most other side-scrolling Mario games. This game deviates slightly from tradition as Mario's must save Princess Daisy, rather than Princess Peach .
A level in the Easton kingdom of Super Mario Land. The gameplay of Super Mario Land is similar to the classic Super Mario Bros. and its successor for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Like in the previous games, the player takes over the role of Mario. The ultimate objective is to defeat Tatanga the "Mysterious Spaceman" and save Princess Daisy. However, there are some differences from earlier Mario games as well. Many of the previous characters do not make an appearance, such as Bowser, Luigi or Princess Peach.
Super Mario Land involves Mario rescuing Princess Daisy from the land of Sarasa. Hang on - doesn't that sound a bit wrong?? Well, that's because this is the Gameboy version of SMB.Princess Toadstool isn't here in the Mushroom Kingdom - yet.Anyway, Mario must travel through four worlds (Birabuto, Muda, Easton, and Chai) each with three levels, and a boss at the end.

Mario's sprite in Super Mario Land. Mario received a distress signal from the distant land of Sarasaland during the events of Super Mario Land. The princess of Sarasaland, Princess Daisy was captured by the purple alien Tatanga. Tatanga had ... taken many of its residents captive. Mario got to use many new vehicles such as the Sky Pop and Marine Pop on his adventure. Mario saved Princess Daisy after defeating Tatanga and returned back to his home in the Mushroom Kingdom. But while he was saving Sarasaland, a doppelgänger of Mario called Wario seized Mario's Castle (which currently doesn't exist and was likely replaced by Mario's Pad).

By the way, even once Mario "escapes" from Pauline, he still isn't satisfied with what he's got: in Super Mario Land, Mario is hunting for Princess Daisy of Sarasaland. And he isn't just there to rescue her from evil aliens, oh no. He's there to take her as his lover. This is, of course, evidenced by the hearts that he starts spouting out his head whenever he thinks that he's found her. These are not the actions of a man looking for somebody to play Backgammon with. These are the actions of a man with lust in his heart. And of course, once the game is completed, Mario and Daisy bundle into Mario's rocket (oppressive phallic imagery, anybody?) and speed off into the sunset, presumably there to screw like crazed weasels.
