There are over 740 A Plus stores that are located across the nation. Each of the A Plus store is endowed with the national brand name that comes along with the products of the company. Sunoco owns and operates five refineries which are located in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Westville, New Jersey; Toledo, Ohio, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The refineries in Marcus Hook, Philadelphia, Westville and Toledo produce principally fuels and commodity petrochemicals while the refinery in Tulsa emphasizes lubricants production with related fuels production being sold in the wholesale market. Sunoco markets gasoline and middle distillates, and offers a range of store merchandise through a network of 4,691 retail outlets in 25 states primarily on the East Coast and in the Midwest United States.
Sunoco is the only major gasoline retailer to sell four grades of gasoline in the U.S.: Regular (octane grade 87), Plus (89), Premium (91), and ULTRA 93. (Sun is currently in the process of removing 94 from stations and making it ULTRA 93 instead). Sunoco ... once sold Economy unleaded, an 86 octane slightly cheaper than regular, in all of its markets until the mid-1990s when it was withdrawn from Pennsylvania and a handful of other states, and was phased out altogether in 2003.
