1. Olympics -- Summer Olympics
   In the early 1930s, the bid to host the 1936 Summer Olympics was won by the rising German Reich, spearheaded of course by the personification of evil, Adolf Hitler. Though the location of the games at that time seemed relatively harmless, the grandeur of the spectacle legitimated, in many previously contesting eyes, Hitler's reign over the motherland and the positive effects that he was having on the nation previously overrun by depression.
2. Ben Johnson -- Summer Olympics
   The Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson was expelled from the athletes' village today and his Olympic accreditation was revoked after an altercation at a security checkpoint. Precisely what occurred around noon at the village... was not clear.
3. Olympic Games -- Summer Olympic Games
   The Olympic Games (often referred to simply as The Olympics or The Games[1]) is an international multi-sport event subdivided into summer and winter sporting events. The summer and winter games are each held every four years (an Olympiad[2]). Until 1992, they were both held in the same year. Since then, they have been separated two years apart.
4. Olympics
   The Olympics are one of the largest media events. In Sydney in 2000 there were over 16,000 broadcasters and journalists, and an estimated 3.8 billion viewers watched the games on television. The growth of the Olympics is one of the largest problems the Olympics face today. Although allowing professional athletes and attracting sponsorships from major international companies solved financial problems in the 1980s, the large number of athletes, media and spectators makes it difficult and expensive for host cities to organize the Olympics. For example the 2012 Olympics, which will be held in London, is based on an updated budget of over £9bn which is one of the biggest budgets for an Olympics to date. Even if sponserships do lighten the load in terms of the debt that these countries make, one of the biggest problems faced is how will their economies cope with the extra financial burdens put on them.
5. Winter Olympic Games -- Summer Games
   At the most recent Winter Olympics, seven sports were conducted, or 15 if each sport such as skiing and skating is counted. Of these, cross country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, Nordic combined, ski jumping, and speed skating have been featured on the programme at all Winter Olympics. In addition, figure skating and ice hockey ... have been contested as part of the Summer Games before the introduction of separate Winter Olympics.
6. International Olympic Committee -- Summer Games
   Countries bidding to host the Summer Olympic Games or the Winter Olympic Games compete aggressively to have their bid accepted by the IOC. The IOC members, representing most of the member countries, vote to decide where the Games will take place. Members from countries which have cities bidding to host the games are excluded from the voting process, up until the point where their city drops out of the contest. Sochi, Russia, was elected as the host city of the 2014 Winter Olympics on July 4, 2007 during the 119th International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in Guatemala City, Guatemala.[4] The next host city for the 2016 Summer Games will be announced at the 121st Session (which will ... be the XIIIth Olympic Congress) held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 2, 2009.

9. Olympic Games -- International Olympic Committee
   The saga of the 1936 Olympic games began on 26 May 1930. This was when the German Olympic Committee met with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Berlin to petition for the hosting rights to XI Olympic games; other applicant cities were Barcelona, Istanbul, Frankfurt am Main, and Nürnberg. Of note is that Berlin was supposed to host the games in 1916, but these were cancelled due to WWI.
10. Olympic Peninsula
    The Olympic Peninsula is the large arm of land in western Washington state that lies across Puget Sound from Seattle. It is bounded on the west by the Pacific Ocean, the north by the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the east by Puget Sound and the Hood Canal. Cape Alava, the westernmost point in the contiguous United States, is on the peninsula. The peninsula is home to Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Olympic National Park, and the Olympic Mountains. Of the handful of temperate rain forests in the world, the Olympic Peninsula is home to the Hoh, Queets, and Quinault rain forests.
