Camp Sunshine is a two-week summer camp for children with cancer held each year at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge. The camp gives children with cancer the opportunity to learn new skills, develop independence and to participate in activities that promote normal childhood development. About 200 children will be at the camp.
Camp Funding Provided by Sears and the Jessica Lynch Foundation ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Military Family Association (NMFA) and Sears, Roebuck and Co. today unveiled a new summer camp program for children of deployed military parents. Announced by Jessica Lynch, former P.O.W. and program spokesperson, Operation Purple is the first camp program of its kind, bringing together children from all branches of the armed forces to interact with each other and address deployment-related stress. Lynch made the announcement at a grand opening ceremony in Wernersville, Pa., home of Camp Keystone Courage, one of the camps in the program. Operation Purple will run 11 week-long, overnight camps across the United States and one in Guam. Nearly 1,000 children, ages 6 to 17, will attend the camps from June through August 2004.

Tripp Lake Camp is a residential program, with one seven and a half week session per summer. There are approximately 330 girls, ranging in age from 8 to 16. Tripp Lake maintains a 1 to 3 counselor to camper ratio and employs 135 counselors. If you love children and the outdoors, please apply to teach one of the available activities.
