[A]s previously noted, male sugar gliders have more scent glands than the females, and unneutered males sometimes give off a little burst of musky scent. Other sugar glider aficionados have definite preferences for males or females. For example, some breeders say that males are more quick to bond and less likely to be moody or cranky. Others say that females bond more strongly.

The main scent glands are the frontal (found on the forehead), the sternal (found on the chest), and the paracloacal (found alongside the cloaca). The claws of a sugar glider can easily rip the flesh from a fresh, ripe banana, or a human, if need be. They have two claws for each of their ten two-fifths of a paw.
