- Hydrogen Peroxide
Hi David , Hydrogen Peroxide can be an effective mouth wash,it is a strong oxizing agent that kills bacteria very readily. Saliva should not affect hydrogen peroxideat all. In fact saliva contains hydogen peroxide as part of a defense mechanism. This defense mechanism is called the lactoperoxidase system. The system consists of the enzyme lactoperxidase, thiocyanate and hydrogen peroxide which kill bacteria. (1) Hydrogen peroxide would be an effective mouth wash, but since it is a strong oxidizing agent, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry reported that a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide may cause skin and mucous membrane irritation.(2) Thanks for asking Larry (1) Brock.T et al Microbiology with Applications p.184 (2) www.atsdr.cdc.gov/atsdrhome.html - Type Vii U-Boat -- North Atlantic
[L]aunched in 1936, the Type VII U-boat was the mainstay of the German campaign against Allied supply lines during the Battle of the Atlantic. With more than six hundred of the type constructed, it has come to be considered the most successful submarine design of all time. This newly revised edition offers a full description of the submarine, including the many variations and improvements introduced during its long service career, a pictorial section that emphasizes close-up and on-board photographs, and 135 line drawings. The perspective and three-view drawings give every detail of the boat—general arrangements, hull construction, machinery, superstructure, rig, armament, fire controls, and fittings—with in-depth descriptive keys. Such a serious evaluation of the submarine’s design and construction provides ship buffs, historians, and modelmakers with an insight into the technicalities of an important ship type. - Hiroshima -- Cities
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the culmination of nearly six years of barbarity. How many millions of the fair ones, sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father, had their lives cut short–in Warsaw and Rotterdam, London and Coventry, Belsen and Auschwitz and Treblinka, Berlin and Hamburg and Dresden, Pearl Harbor and Guadalcanal and Bataan and Normandy and Stalingrad and Kursk and the Ardennes, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and, finally, in those two cities (and ironically, on the USS Indianapolis, a US Navy cruiser that carried the bomb to Tinian and then was sunk by a Japanese submarine, with a loss of over 900 men). These two days (August 5 and 8, by the Japanese reckoning) should be the days when we join Lincoln in fervently praying that the terrible scourge of war will pass away, and that the young men and women of our nations will no longer be sent off to kill and be killed. - 1943 -- Allies
Founded in 1943, ASCD, an international, non-profit association, is one of the largest professional development organizations for educator leaders. It provides world-class education information services, offers cutting-edge professional development for effective teaching and learning, and supports activities to provide educational equity for all students. ASCD's 165,000 members reside in more than 140 countries and include principals, teachers, superintendents, professors of education, and other educators. - Barents Sea -- Russian Arctica
During the joint Norwegian-Russian survey on pelagic fish in the Barents Sea this autumn, the capelin stock was estimated at only 530 thousand tonnes, compared to 2.21 million tonnes in 2002. A sharp decline of this capelin stock has been observed earlier, both in 1984-1986 and in 1992-1994. There is reason to believe that such collapses in the Barents Sea capelin stock ... have taken place several times before. - Battlefield 1942 -- Games
Staying true to the Battlefield 1942 massive multiplayer legacy, The Road To Rome will support up to 64 players (on select maps) and give them the ability to fully experience World War II combat. Playing as several infantry classes, gamers can control many weapons available to the Axis and Allies and command numerous land vehicles, ships and aircraft.
