Every starfleet needs a vast number of these unglamourous ships - although you never seem to see them in "Imperial Stars", "Strike Fleet", or any of the other popular VR entertainment programs in the Imperium. Never mind that: without thousands and thousands of glorified cargo barges like these, the Imperial Navy would swiftly grind to a halt.

The first Imperial strike was sudden and savage but the NSA managed to defeat the strike fleet, much thanks to the military competence and leadership of Fleet Admiral T Parker. The initial victory allowed NSA to improve their defenses and gear up for war. Fleet Admiral T Parker, an experienced and wise commander knew that they had won the battle but not the war. She initiated several projects that would search for a long-term solution to the threat from the Terran Empire.

The U.S. Navy took a slightly different route to modernize its strike fleet. Given the extreme age of its carrier-based F/A-18 C/D fighter planes (developed concurrently with the F-16), the Navy chose to base the more modern fighter on the older plane. The result is the F/A-18 E/F, which entered service in 1999. This option will provide new planes but ... will result in only marginal improvements over the predecessor fighter.

During this period the US Air Force deep strike fleet retained the F-111F, the new F-15E and the stealthy F-117A, backed up by the B-52G/H, and the new B-1B and B-2A heavy bombers. The then recent Desert Storm campaign illustrated that the key weakness in the force structure was the battlefield strike fleet - not only was the survivability of the slow A-10A a problem, but the range/endurance of the F-16C was inadequate even for the modest 400 to 600 NMI radius needed. The US Navy and Marines experienced similar troubles with the F/A-18s, while the Marines' AV-8B Harriers suffered disproportionate losses to heatseeking SAMs.

Now, the European Navy has become the 3rd Naval Recon & Strike Fleet, lead by Commodore Veynom. Eole is currently Lt while Spookie was promoted as Commander and lead the Escort & Supply part of the Fleet.
